Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University

SOUTH MORAVIA

This botanical garden contains collections of domestic species, with a special focus on the vegetation of South Moravia, aquatic plants and temperate-zone species from all over the world. Its arboretum has 520 wood plant taxa. Its greenhouse area of 1100 m2 contains tropical and subtropical species including Victoria amazonica, palms, cycas, ferns, Bromelia, succulents, cacti and orchids, plus crops plants such as mango, pineapple, banana, cacao, coffee, citruses, olive, passion flowers, papaya, cotton and sugar cane.

Bučovice Chateau

SOUTH MORAVIA

The geometric (formal) garden is in front of the chateau’s west façade. It originated between 1567 and 1575, as part of the walled-in grounds of the chateau. It was first mentioned in writing in 1613. The grounds as a whole testify to the original design of the chateau in the style of the late Italian Renaissance (palazzo in fortezza). Castle Kámen Park

THE HIGHLANDS REGION

Originally a Gothic castle was built in the mid-13th century on a large rock, after which it was named. The first mention of the garden dates back to 1773 when the orchard and kitchen garden was established at the castle. After the expropriation of the castle after 1948 the maintenance of the park was neglected; In 2015, the total revitalization of the park was started, with almost 500 tree species planted.
