Where the grapevine flourishes, so do people
Užitková zahrada
In a deep valley where the River Dyje (Thaya) meanders, in the very heart of the Podyjí National Park on the slope of a projection of rock, in one of the oldest and perhaps best wine-growing locations in Europe, lie the Šobes vineyards. Šobes wine owes its excellence to the ideal situation of its vines at low altitude on the sun-drenched southern slope, where they are protected from the wind to the northwest and northeast. Water from the River Dyje, warm days and cool nights, mists, stony, acidic soil on a bed of gneiss, which soaks up the sun’s warmth by day and exhales it by night, all play an important role. The microclimate can be compared to that of the Rhine or France’s Rhône Valley. Although it is thought that the first vineyards in this blessed wine region were established by Roman legionaries, today’s superlative Šobes vineyard track is the proverbial icing on the cake. In the summer months, we open a company stand directly at the vineyard, giving you a unique opportunity to taste several Šobes wines in a charming, fully authentic setting.
