Adventure in the Garden: When Children Bloom!
The garden where we let nature do its work
Ukázková přírodní zahrada
Ukázková přírodní zahrada MŠ a ZŠ Boleradice
The nursery and primary school’s natural wild garden has a simple motto: ‘Let’s learn and play outdoors.’ It offers child and adult visitors an opportunity to relax actively by looking at animals, plants and other aspects of the natural world. There is plenty of calm and shade in the teaching rooms and summerhouses. Visitors to the garden can study the wetlands, walk through the meadow and see how vegetables are cultivated in raised beds and in accordance with a four-year sowing process. Aquatic animals swim in the pond, and there are feeders and drinking vessels for butterflies and birds. Display cases with information and worksheets are placed around the garden. There are play items and a sandpit to keep children entertained. The school offers guided tours of the garden, plus postcards and a map of wild gardens.
The town of Boleradice is well known for its theatre, where the Mrštík Brothers amateur troupe has a 120-year history. Visitors are also attracted by the Tihelňa wine street, with its restaurant and café. Cyclists are within easy reach of a natural beauty spot called the Mrštík Brothers Valley, a site of interesting information about these artists, who were also teachers, writers and beekeepers. There are wooden statues of the Mrštíks in the valley and of the great Slav missionaries Constantine and Methodius directly above the town. Higher still above the town, at Boleradice’s highest point, is the Nedánov observatory, with its beautiful views of the landscape.
