Park
Zámecký park Strážnice
The chateau park contains extensive groups of trees and areas of grass and water. It was created in the first half of the 19th century by Franz Anton, Count Magnis (1777–1848), who transformed the original pheasantry to take on the spirit of the English landscaping tradition. An outstanding avenue of plane trees, with some rare trees and remnants of earlier compositional and functional elements, forms part of the area around the chateau building, the grounds of the entrance, Black Gate and the Zámek amphitheatre. The surroundings of the Špaček Pond were once occupied by an English garden. The ‘Round Pond’ with its island, remnants of very rare woody plants and meadowland are all distinctive features of the Bludník. The park’s main axis is the Chateau Avenue.
