The garden where we let nature do its work

A model wild garden in the city centre that offers morning classes for nursery and primary schools and after-school activity groups. As well as herbs, green roofs, perennials and ponds, the garden contains educational features that work with sound and touch. There is a model economical watering system of the type easily installed in a small garden (it uses porous capsules and earthenware vessels). On weekdays, the garden is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., so as not to disrupt its ongoing programme. A visit to the garden is easily combined with a visit to the garden of the nearby Stiassni villa.
The model wild garden was established by Lipka staff at the Lipová facility. In addition to the garden, visitors can see the beautiful functionalist villa which serves as the headquarters of the Lipka management team and its many teachers. Teaching programmes on ecology include after-school clubs, day camps and residential camps, and events for the general public. There are also programmes promoting an environment-friendly lifestyle and craft courses on the use of natural materials.
