Mendel University Botanical Garden and Arboretum

SOUTH MORAVIA

The Botanical Garden and Arboretum is a teaching and purpose-built facility belonging to Mendel University in Brno. It was established in 1938 by Prof. Augustin Bayer, on an area of 2 ha; in 1967, it was extended to its current area of 11 ha. The site is divided into five themed parts. The arboretum’s collections comprise up to 4000 orchid taxa, 300 Tillandsia taxa, 200 perennials, 350 cultivars of large-flowered iris, 500 rock plants and wood plant taxa. Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University

SOUTH MORAVIA

This botanical garden contains collections of domestic species, with a special focus on the vegetation of South Moravia, aquatic plants and temperate-zone species from all over the world. Its arboretum has 520 wood plant taxa. Its greenhouse area of 1100 m2 contains tropical and subtropical species including Victoria amazonica, palms, cycas, ferns, Bromelia, succulents, cacti and orchids, plus crops plants such as mango, pineapple, banana, cacao, coffee, citruses, olive, passion flowers, papaya, cotton and sugar cane.

Lednice Chateau

SOUTH MORAVIA

The largest chateau park in the Czech Republic, it is composed of a formal French garden and an English garden with two ponds. The park contains several small structures, notably a Moorish waterworks, an aqueduct, a minaret and the oldest palm greenhouse in the world. A unique work of 19th-century landscape architecture. The park was established in the 17th century and gradually set with 300 species of rare woody plants from all over the world; it is a nesting place for many species of rare water birds. Lysice Chateau

SOUTH MORAVIA

A terraced garden with an elevated, covered colonnade, a grotto and a sala terrena. Styles of art from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries combine in a unique, creative way. The chateau also has an orangery from the first half of the 19th century, which includes century-old Camellia and fig plants.

LOWER AUSTRIA

  Situated on seven terraces, the Baroque garden harmonizes with all its trees, hedges of labyrinths, bridal beds, fountains, and statues. There are six fountains, some of which spray in the form of water games from one terrace to another. Mixed herbal and medicinal plants, vegetables and fruits grow there.
