Renaissance chateau Greillenstein

LOWER AUSTRIA

The castle was surrounded by gardens from the very beginning. The bloom occurred in the 18th century when the park and garden were rebuilt in the Baroque style. The impressive tree classes, balustrades, and sandstone dwarfs come from this period. Today, this garden is full of botanical treasures peculiarities for connoisseurs.

LOWER AUSTRIA

  Situated on seven terraces, the Baroque garden harmonizes with all its trees, hedges of labyrinths, bridal beds, fountains, and statues. There are six fountains, some of which spray in the form of water games from one terrace to another. Mixed herbal and medicinal plants, vegetables and fruits grow there.

The park is located in the middle of the town, next to the river Ybbs and borders with the chateau Rothschild. It's open to wide public throughout the whole year and also contains a playground.

Everyone who is searching for a peaceful place can find it here, on the 27 hectares. The garden was made by courtyard garden director Anton Umlauft customized for Archduke Franz Ferdinand (around 1900).

The chateau is surrounded by nature. In the front part of chateau there are roads and grass areas. On the right side of the chateau there is a chateau garden that contains a dog cemetery, pond, and stairs. In the backside of the chateau there is a small area of forest that contains old moats. On the left side of the chateau there is a grass area that hasn't been used.
